Mongoose Media Appoints John Lim as new Editor-in-Chief of Time Out Malaysia

Mongoose Publishing Sdn Bhd today announced that John Lim is to be the new Editor-in-Chief of Time Out (KL, Malaysia and Malaysia Kids). He takes over from current Time Out Editorial Director (Malaysia and Singapore) and Time Out KL Editor-in-Chief, Lim Chee Wah as of 18th May 2017.

John Lim brings over 15 years of journalism experience and a deep understanding of Malaysian digital and print audiences to Time Out.

He first began his career as a freelance contributor with KLue magazine, eventually coming on board as Managing Editor of the magazine. Over the past 10 years, the diversity of John’s career and the leadership roles he has taken on at media brands such as The Edge, Fisherman Integrated and AskMen Southeast Asia have equipped him with the skills to lead Time Out here in Malaysia and bring a new flavour and direction to the brand.

Under Mongoose Media, John Lim will lead a team that has been responsible for creating one of the most influential and powerful magazine and digital platforms in Malaysia: Time Out Kuala Lumpur; Time Out Malaysia; and Time Out Malaysia Kids. In totality, the brands boast an impressive distribution of over 110,000 copies and over 4,500,000 online page views each month. Future plans include expanding the scope of Time Out’s digital, print and video content, increasing its social media presence and continuing the growth of its digital audiences.

Lim Chee Wah

Under the leadership of Lim Chee Wah, who joined the Time Out team back in 2007, the Time Out brand in Malaysia has seen explosive growth in its audience figures, particularly in its digital and social media reach. Coupled with the introduction of exciting products such as Time Out KL Food & Drink Awards, Time Out Dine Out and Time Out Live, Time Out has become the clear market leader in Malaysia with an unassailable audience advantage over every other possible rival. As for his other role as the Editorial Director of Time Out Malaysia and Singapore, he also worked closely with the Singapore team in reshaping both print and digital content as well as implementing new social media strategies, which drove digital traffic to impressive new records.
