Flying over the Putrajaya Skies
Time Out KL was the official magazine for the 2nd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta held 18-21 March 2010. The Fiesta featured attention-grabbing designs like the Darth Vader and Orange design from Belgium, which were among the 23 hot air balloons from 12 countries that adorned the sky over Putrajaya.
The participating countries included Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, New Zealand, South Korea, the Netherlands, the United States, France and Malaysia.
Aside from the balloon ride, there were other activities such as a remote controlled aircraft display, paramotor showcase, helicopter rides, water ball and sphere rides, colouring competition, photography competition, auto show and petting zoo.
The highlight was a night-glow display where the balloons glowed like light bulbs, a spectacular display of illuminated lights in the sky followed by a fireworks display.
"Here I am, a mere mortal, getting a glimpse of the heavens! The flight was so euphoric that as we landed, I was assailed by an acute sense of loss. Oh, when will I go up once again and experience what the angels experience", says Joe Hizul, one of the lucky passengers.
