Mongoose to announce new Editor-in-Chiefs for Esquire Singapore and Esquire Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 29 October 2014: Mongoose Publishing Sdn Bhd today announced that Sam Coleman, Editor-in-Chief of Esquire Singapore and Esquire Malaysia, will step down from his post in December 2014.

Sam took the decision for personal and family reasons and Mongoose will replace him with separate Editor-in-Chiefs for each edition. Their identity will be made public soon.

Sam, whose pioneering leadership has overseen the two editions of Esquire since each launched, joined the Mongoose editorial staff in 2007, working on Time Out KL and as Executive Editor of Expatriate Lifestyle. He became Editor-in-Chief of Esquire Malaysia in early 2011, going on to take the reins of Esquire Singapore when it launched in September 2012.

Esquire Singapore is widely acclaimed as one of the most successful and critically acclaimed editions of the famous global men’s magazine. At the 2014 Media Publishing Association of Singapore (MPAS) Awards, Esquire Singapore won eight awards, more than any other magazine in the country, contributing to Mongoose Publishing Pte Ltd securing the title of ‘Media Company of the Year’.

Meanwhile, earlier this year Esquire Malaysia beat out over 530 competitors from 17 countries to win the gold award for Best Magazine Cover for its April 2013 “Brilliant Malaysians” issues, and silver for Best Overall Magazine Design, at the WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards.

During Sam Coleman’s tenure as Editor-in-Chief of both Esquire Malaysia and Esquire Singapore, the two magazines have firmly established themselves as the pre-eminent men’s magazines in their respective markets.

Through high quality independent journalism, world class design and art direction, inspiring editorial, convincing digital platforms and a collection of impactful events and activations such as “Best Dressed Real Man”, the Esquire brand has thrived in Malaysia and Singapore under Sam’s guidance.
