5 JANUARY 2015, KUALA LUMPUR – Mongoose Publishing Sdn Bhd today announced the appointment of Lynette Ow as new Editorial Director. Ow will take responsibility for print magazine editorial teams across the multi-award-winning group that includes ELLE Malaysia, Esquire Malaysia, Expatriate Lifestyle, Men’s Health Malaysia, Time Out Kuala Lumpur and the soon-to-be-launched Women’s Health Malaysia.

As Editorial Director, Ow will work with each Editor and Editor-in-Chief, plus their editorial and design teams, to develop and manage creative content for Mongoose. She will report to Matthew Bellotti, Mongoose Chief Content Officer.

“I couldn’t be more excited with Lynette becoming our Editorial Director,” said Bellotti. “Her knowledge of the Malaysian magazine scene and her passion for outstanding media is second to none. She also always gets the very best out of the team around her. At Mongoose, we have an abundance of great talent making brilliant magazines. Under Lynette’s guidance and expertise they will rise to even greater heights.”

The Editorial Director will help continue and bolster Mongoose’s reputation for providing world class editorial content and delivering outstanding value for commercial partners who work with Mongoose’s content, as well as offering insight and analysis on industry trends and issues.

In 2014, Mongoose won 17 awards at the Magazine Publishers Association annual awards, more than any other publisher in Malaysia. Among numerous other national and international awards, Mongoose also claimed a SOPA (Society of Publishers in Asia) Excellence in Lifestyle Coverage award for Time Out KL’s “Broke in KL” March 2013 cover story, while Mongoose’s Esquire Malaysia also took a gold and silver in the WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards 2014 for Best Magazine Cover and Overall Magazine Design.

Ow has, since February 2014, worked with Mongoose as GM, Marketing. This role has allowed her to immerse herself in the brands she will now be guiding as Editorial Director. Prior to joining Mongoose, Ow was General Manager of Capital FM, and before that was Editor-in-Chief of CLEO and Managing Editor of Cosmopolitan, two of Malaysia’s leading publications, at ACP Magazines from 2005 to 2012.

“I’m looking forward to continuing Mongoose’s dynamic rise in recent years. I am a real fan of all the magazines we publish at Mongoose and I am excited to be able to work closely with all the Editors and their teams to cement Mongoose’s position as the leading provider of outstanding magazine content in Malaysia.”

“The company’s commitment to integrity, high value work and world class benchmarking is inspiring, as is the chance to work with the very best media executives in the country,” said Ow.

One of Ow’s first priorities will be the launch of Women’s Health Malaysia, to be unveiled this March. The launch will coincide with the Men’s Health & Women’s Health Night Run on March 21 in Putrajaya. Over 7,000 runners have already confirmed attendance, ensuring the evening will be a fitting celebration for the unveiling of another major magazine brand for Mongoose Publishing.
